trash cans
Our stainless steel trash cans are easily cleaned with warm water and a soft cloth. Our micro-fiber sponge mitt is especially effective for cleaning stainless steel without leaving streak marks. For more information, see our complete guide on the
cleaning and maintenance of your stainless steel product.
Our trash cans vary in size, shape, opening mechanism, color, lid type, and more. Try using our trash can comparison chart to compare the different style kitchen cans available.

Yes, they are designed to work with standard trash bags as well as
simplehuman can liners. A standard tall kitchen bag will fit most of our kitchen size cans. Our kitchen cans have a removable bucket that fits into an exterior frame, so excess bag can be gathered together and tucked away. Some cans also feature a bag tuck opening for even more seamless fit.
The holes in the liners are designed to release trapped air that results when a new bag is put into a can. The holes eliminate the bulging effect caused by trapped air, therefore maximizing the total capacity of each bag. The bag will not tear or rip from these strategically placed holes; in fact, the bag is less likely to rip because there is no bulging and no need to force items to fit in the bag.
sensor soap pumps
First, make sure there are working batteries in your soap pump (4 “AA” batteries required). Make sure the polarities (+/-) are correct! Second, fill your soap pump chamber with soap/lotion. Make sure you fill it up more than halfway!
Air bubbles may have gotten trapped in your soap pump during shipping. To release the air bubbles, locate the notch on the nozzle of your soap pump (where the soap comes out). Turn the notch with your fingernail, paperclip, or small screwdriver, then try to prime again. You may also try tapping your soap pump onto the countertop to release the air bubbles. If you still have difficulty, just call up our customer service team: 888-988-8880. (Mon.-Fri., 8am-5pm PST)
Most liquid hand and dish soaps are compatible with the sensor soap pump, as well as most lotions. However, we recommend to NOT use the following types of soap/lotion:
- very heavy/thick creams
- mouthwash, toner/astringent, or other thinner liquids
- anything with exfoliates/grains/microbeads/moisture beads
- any sort of foaming soap
We also would like to caution on using gels in the sensor soap pump. If you do use a gel (e.g. hand sanitizer, styling product, aloe vera), we recommend to wipe the soap pump’s nozzle with a cloth dampened with warm water so it doesn’t get clogged with the dried gel.
The outside of your soap pump can be wiped with a warm, soapy cloth. If you want to clean the soap chamber of your soap pump, simply rinse it with water through the refill opening. Do NOT try to pump water through the soap pump. This can damage your pump.
Be wary of anything too thick or too thin. Water or mouthwash will not work in your soap pump, and could even cause damage. (Same goes for any sort of foaming soap!) Also, soap or lotion with exfoliates, grains, microbeads, or moisture beads should not be used, as they can clog your soap pump.
