So this brewer can only brew one cup at a time?
Yes, it brews one cup at a time, in under a minute. This is really
perfect for situations like dinner parties where one person wants
decaf and the rest don't mind staying up all night. It's also great if there are only a couple of people in
your household, and you rarely feel the need to brew a whole pot. Plus, every brew is always fresh — no old burnt-tasting coffee that's been sitting on the warmer. You know how that tastes.
What is a pod?
A pod looks like a circular tea bag, but it can have coffee or tea. It's made with premium
filter paper and filled with fresh ground coffee or tea leaves. Pods are great
because each one contains the exact amount of coffee or tea for a cup. There's no
hassle with grinding beans, and cleanup is easy — just throw away the pod.
Each pod brews one cup of coffee or tea.
Does the pod brewer only use pods?
It will work with any standard size pod on the market — that includes
major brands like Molto, Senseo, Wolfgang Puck, Java One, Gevalia,
Green Mountain, Folgers, Aloha Island, Baronet, Archer Farms, etc.
Where can I buy pods for the brewer?
You can get standard size pods for the brewer at
supermarkets like Ralphs or Vons, and from websites online. Molto
Coffee and Tea pods are available at Bed, Bath and Beyond and on our website
at
www.simplehuman.com, or at
cooking.com. With pods becoming increasingly popular, more and more varieties are becoming available, including decaf coffee and different kinds of tea.
Can I use espresso pods or make hot chocolate in the pod brewer?
No, our brewer only works with coffee and tea pods. We designed the brewer
designed to do one thing well — make a really great cup of coffee or tea — rather
than trying to make too many different beverages out of one machine.
Can I put my own coffee into the pods?
No. The pods are individually wrapped in ultra premium foil paper, and
it takes special packing equipment to manufacture the pods. If you let us
know who your favorite roasters are, we can contact them about producing
pods. There is already a wide variety of pods made by specialty gourmet roasters, and
our tasters have ensured that the quality and taste
of Molto Coffee pods measures up favorably with roasters like
Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
Why is the coffee from the pod brewer so hot?
The coffee brews at 200° F, the optimal temperature
for brewing coffee. Brewing at the right temperature extracts a fuller,
richer flavor. It's perfect if you like to add cream or milk to your
coffee — coffee from a lot of other brewers become lukewarm
after adding creamer.
Why are there 2 pod holders included?
Different brands of pods may vary in thickness. Fuller coffee pods,
such as Molto Coffee pods, require a larger pod holder (the brown one).
Thinner coffee pods, such as Senseo pods, use the thinner pod holder
(the green one). Tea pods also use the thinner pod holder.
Can I use my own tea bags in this machine?
We don't recommend using tea bags in this machine because pods
are specially designed to work with the brewer's flavor extraction system.
There are tea bags that are round in shape, and we've actually found those to
work reasonably well — it really depends on how strong you like
your tea. You can always use the brewer to make a cup of hot water
to make your tea.
What is the cost per cup of coffee?
It ranges depending on the type of pod you use. With Molto Coffee,
14 pods cost around $5.99, so that's about 40 cents a pod. It's
actually not that much more expensive than buying coffee for a regular brewer, and what's more, you
don't waste any since you're making one cup of coffee at a time.
What kind of water does the brewer use?
The brewer works with any water, but we recommend using bottled or filtered water
in the brewer for improved quality and taste.
What is the return policy?
If you try the machine and you don't like it, simplehuman.com has a
60-day return policy. You only need to bear the cost for return
shipping.
