We designed our line of kitchen trashcans to work better, faster and more efficiently. In day-to-day wear and tear, the most critical parts of a trashcan are the hinge, the lid, the pedal and the inner bucket. simplehuman has developed patented innovations in these mechanisms to make our trash cans more durable, more ergonomic, and better looking.
We know how valuable space is in your kitchen, so we designed our cans to be especially space efficient. simplehuman's line of kitchen trash cans have the right shape for almost any space - perfect placement next to an island, against a wall, under a counter top, or in a cabinet.

Our attention to space includes minimizing the size of the hinge - our cans have the smallest possible hinge, and in some cases an 'invisible hinge' that is built internally so not an inch is wasted, allowing for snug placement close to a wall.
In our round cans, we've created a flat profile hinge that doubles as a handle for easy lifting.
We like our lids to close quietly — not slam shut. Compare the speed our lid closes with conventional trash cans and you'll notice the difference immediately. Our kitchen trash cans have two features to slow down the close of the lid.
All of our kitchen trash cans include leaf springs to help slow down the momentum of a closing lid.
Our premium cans include a rotary damper mechanism that guarantees a whisper quiet close every time. This premium feature is available on most of our all-stainless steel models of kitchen trash cans.
The pedal takes the brunt of daily wear and tear, which is why most mechanical problems are caused by an inferior pedal system. Our patented pedal design replaces the conventional rod and linkage method with a smoother, more durable, mechanism to make our pedals smooth and long lasting.
A patented design integrates a resin toe kick into the body of the can. The result is a broader, more durable pedal area for easier access. Plus, it keeps the body of the can from getting kicked accidentally.
Our step cans make it very easy to open the lid. We've engineered the pedals to be as close to the ground as possible so there's less travel distance, and therefore less force needed. The design is achieved through a simple but powerful teeter-totter design which multiplies the actuation force.
Our bucket is designed with built-in handles that make it easy to lift out the bucket. Any excess bag overhang can be tucked in neatly between the bucket and the frame to keep the can looking neat.
All of our stainless steel cans use high-grade materials. The plastics we use, polycarbonate or high-impact polypropylene, are durable and easy to clean. Our commitment to high quality materials and construction is so strong, all of our cans carry a 5-year or 10-year warranty.
